Problem and Solution:

The company's leadership aimed to expedite the onboarding process so employees could start their jobs sooner. Previously, onboarding classroom training lasted between 2 to 6 weeks. To address this, the onboarding instructor and I developed a plan to transition the classroom training to eLearning courses, reducing classroom time to just one week. The project included the creation of 10 eLearning modules covering a comprehensive introduction to the company's values, processes, and programs; information on logistics and IT services; details about the company's benefits; and an overview of the organizational structure and departments, among other topics.

Process:

I began by thoroughly reviewing all the content covered in the instructor’s onboarding courses to ensure that I included all necessary information. Next, I created a project plan with a timeline based on the hierarchy and requirements from both the instructor and the company's leadership, allowing for a turnaround time of just one month. I then consulted with subject matter experts (SMEs) from each department to confirm that all essential information for new hires was being addressed. In collaboration with the SMEs, we streamlined and organized the content to avoid overwhelming new hires, recognizing that much of the knowledge would be acquired through experience. Through these discussions, I determined the appropriate format for each course development, including the use of Articulate Storyline, Rise 360, videos, job aids, and classroom instruction.
